To register please contact me at livingreiki@marieknapp.com

You may send me the $75 by email banking.  The name for the first level is Shoden.

OR we can make other arrangements when you contact me.

I have already two registered and one more interested.  Maximum number is six unless I give special consideration to past students.

This class is for you  if you have not taken a Reiki class before.  Perhaps you have experienced Reiki from a practitioner and would like to learn how to use it yourself.  Reiki can be very helpful in many ways and in this class, besides learning how to practice it, you will also learn about many ways it is possible to use it.  Continual practice is important in developing your sensitivity.

It may also be for you if you have taken Reiki classes and would like to experience this traditional reiki just to have a new and maybe even deeper perspective.

I have thoroughly enjoyed what I have been learning through the International House of Reiki and Frans Stiene. Those who complete the three sessions will receive a recognized certificate acknowledging their completion.  The class will focus on developing spiritual and mental focus by working with the Reiki precepts, as well as learning a daily routine for meditation and self-care, hands on healing you can use for family and friends, and you will receive Reiki blessings through attunements and reijus.

You will have some suggested reading before the course starts as well as meditation and practice homework between segments.  Following completion of the course, I will offer you a special discount on receiving sessions from me if you so wish over the next few months.   A reiki session usually costs $70 and I will charge you only $50 for any three sessions you choose to have prior to June 1st, 2019.

Reiki is a spiritually guided energy that is always within us and surrounding us but often hidden by the blankets of our life involvements and confusing thought processes.  When we allow the Reiki energy to be more prominent, our wholeness is more evident. A calmness begins to reveal itself.  Our true self begins to emerge and the relaxation allows our body, mind and emotions to heal itself in the way that is best at that moment in time.  We become increasingly more aware of our bright light within.

Reiki can be a means to self-care and spiritual growth. It is the spiritual nature of Reiki that inspires me most. It is a spirituality that is not connected to any religion but could be connected to all of them. It is also a spirituality that is not dependent on any preconceived concept of what God is or isn’t. One simply has to know that there is a force in the universe that is greater than us and is a creative energy.

I am now connected with the International House of Reiki and am designing my courses with guidance from Frans Stiene.

Reiki 11 (Okuden) is an eight-hour course.  I will offer it in the spring at my usual rate. It is best to have had at least three months of practice with Reiki 1 and especially practice with the meditations, before taking Reiki 11.  Reiki 11 teaches you ways to strengthen the flow of Reiki energy.  In Reiki 11 you will also learn Distance Healing and some particular Reiki techniques and meditations to focus the energy in different ways.

I invite you to read other pages on my web site for more information.  The home page will give you more information about Reiki.  And browse through the other blog articles .

I look forward to hearing from you,

Transitioning to the Traditional Reiki

Reiki is a spiritually guided energy that is always within us and surrounding us but often hidden by the blankets of our life involvements and confusing thought processes.  When we allow the Reiki energy to be more prominent, our wholeness is more evident. A calmness begins to reveal itself.  Our true self begins to emerge and the relaxation allows our body, mind and emotions to heal itself in the way that is best at that moment in time.  We become increasingly more aware of our bright light within.

One simply has to know that there is a force in the universe that is greater than us and is a creative energy.

I have recently moved from offering courses based on the curriculum designed by William Lee Rand and the International Center for Reiki Training.  That was an excellent program designed by people with much knowledge and integrity. My change is related to my own spiritual direction.  That happens as we grow and develop. Our needs change to more fully expand all sides of who we are.

I am now connected with the International House of Reiki and am designing my courses with guidance from Frans Stiene.  If you have taken the courses I have taught in the past and would like to learn more about this  traditional direction, feel free to contact me as I will offer a discounted price for my past students.

Reiki 1 (Shoden) is a 12 hour course.  I will  teach it in three  four-hour segments. This class is for you  if you have not taken a Reiki class before but perhaps you have experienced Reiki from a practitioner and would like to learn how to use it yourself.  Reiki can be very helpful in many ways and in this class, besides learning how to practice it, you will also learn about many ways it is possible to use it.  Continual practice is important in developing your sensitivity.

Cost is usually $200, however read on to hear about a special much lower rate for October 2018.   And it includes reading materials and a journal.  There is a $50 non refundable deposit to register.  However, I am working on a lower pricing for an October class.  This will be the first time I will be teaching the Traditional format.  I know it will be at least as good as the past classes I have taught. However I want to ensure I have enough people to help me design the class well, use your feedback if you attend and create a very positive learning experience for students.

The class will be offered on three Friday mornings from 9am till 1:00.  IF I have at least four students, it will be Oct 12, 19 and 26.  The location in undecided. It will be in or near Owen Sound, in a scent free and animal free setting to allow for those with allergies (including myself). Location will also depend somewhat on numbers.

For this class I will charge only $75 which will help cover my expenses and perhaps give me enough to contribute to my fund for taking more classes.  There is a $50 non refundable deposit that will hold your spot.

I have thoroughly enjoyed what I have been learning through the International House of Reiki and Frans Stiene. Those who complete the three sessions will receive a certificate acknowledging their completion.

Reiki 11 (Okuden) is an eight-hour course.  You must have taken the first level from someone in-person in order to take the second level. If you have not taken the first level as traditional Reiki, there will be required reading and practice to prepare.

Taking Reiki classes a second time is not necessary even if it has been years since previous classes occurred.  However, I have found that taking repeats with the same or different teachers is beneficial.

Cost $200  There is likewise a $50 non refundable deposit to register

Following the second level you may attend any of the Reiki workshops I offer unless it is specifically directed to Reiki Masters.  There is always a special price for people who have taken Reiki classes through me.

Thank you for reading this. If you are uncertain and want to have a phone discussion, email me and we will set up a time that suits both of us.

I invite you to read other pages on my web site for more information.  The home page will give you more information about Reiki.  And browse through the other blog articles .

7 Benefits of Learning Reiki

Whether or not you have received a Reiki session, you probably have some preconceived ideas about why a person would want to learn Reiki.  Of course.  But I would like to take this opportunity to expand your awareness.  You may be surprised.

  1. Reiki is a wonderful means of providing self care.  This possibility goes beyond using the hand positions you would learn in a Reiki class.  You see Reiki really responds to your intention.  “Seek and ye shall find” is a perfect invitation.  Reiki energy is always there for everyone but it respects our free will.  Ask and allow it to flow.  A Reiki class speeds up the process for you so that you will more readily open to the flow and feel the effects. Imagine starting your day by centering and inviting the flow of Reiki energy, asking for guidance as you move through the day’s work, challenges and frustrations.
  2. You can use Reiki energy to calm the energy in your home.  Some days are tense.  Perhaps the kids seem out of sorts.  maybe you are having a conflict with your partner.  The area just feels like it is ripe for more.  Allowing Reiki energy to clear your chakras, and calm your field will be a good start.  You can then do the same with your home.  The Reiki energy will spread around and be “catchy” so to speak.
  3. The first two levels of Reiki can be used also with animals.   Do you have animals in your care?  Sheila Murphy, my Reiki Master colleague has been pursuing Animal Reiki.  Sheila will be offering a class (to those with Reiki 11) on how to use Reiki with animals.  In fact if I have two more students in the course, Sheila will be helping me teach it and can give you some starter tips.  It is different working with animals.
  4. Use Reiki to help prepare yourself for an upcoming challenge.  Perhaps you feel anxious about a difficult meeting, a challenging phone call you are expecting or have to make, or something of that nature.  Let yourself be Reiki.  Yes visualization is helpful but your visualization can be even more effective if you first allow Reiki to be flowing within you.
  5. Reiki helps you be ready for what the future may bring. It will help you be more resilient with the major changes occurring in the world today.  The more we practice being  with Reiki, the easier it is to invite its presence in times of confusion and crisis.  It isn’t an easy time we live in.
  6. You may wish to eventually start up a Reiki practice.  Yes some people study Reiki for the purpose of starting up a Reiki practice.  It will take some time to develop your skills enough to begin seeing clients but some people already have a practice where they see clients for similar kinds of concerns.  Talk to me about this possibility.
  7. Personally I would love to see a variety of health care practitioners using Reiki to strengthen  the care they offer.  An Occupational Therapist or Physio Therapist or Chiropractor could learn Reiki and use it to help bring a client to a better state of relaxation in order for their treatment to be more effective more quickly.  Or, I suppose they could work cooperatively with a Reiki practitioner to achieve the same end.  A Psychotherapist could also work collaboratively with a Reiki Practitioner to help the client be better able to gain new insights and perhaps release troubling issues.

I would be happy to explore these benefits with anyone who would like to work with Reiki in these ways.  Consider the Reiki  courses I am offering soon.  Reiki 1 on May 23 and Reiki 11 on May 30th.  The possibilities are endless.  Click here for more details about the classes.   Or email me with your questions at livingreiki@rogers.com.

Till next time,

Marie

Reiki Perspective: Jesus was a Master Healer

winter-2016 Winter has arrived!  It is a season marked by several different holiday celebrations.  While the celebration of Christmas has its many different Religious traditions, I would also like to add that the celebration of the birth of Jesus is not necessarily only for the religious.

Whether or not you believe in the divinity of Christ, the Virgin birth, and do forth, there are other things to celebrate.  Jesus was one of the greatest Master Healers and those of us who do healing with Reiki energy or other forms of the highest spiritual energies, also can honour that aspect of Christmas.  We do not know the actual date of Jesus’ birth but we do know that there were astrological signs of the birth of such a person.  Jesus taught us many principles in the way he healed.  For example to my knowledge he did not heal anyone who did not ask to be healed. He told people he healed that they were not to tell others of the healing.  He told us that we could all do the same and more.  And so we learn healing modalities such as Reiki and we learn to help another’s body, mind and spirit to be in the right state of relaxation and allowing to heal itself in a way that is best for all concerned.

In closing, I wish you all a warm and peaceful celebration of the birth of the Master Healer, as well as a year ahead in which you continue to practice care of yourself and others in a way that is best for you and all concerned.  May you be guided by the Highest Power and live life with love in your heart.

Sending you love and light as the days grow longer and the spirit of healing renews your soul.

“To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven.”

mariePerhaps it is fitting that this week ends with November 11.  A week that may be looked back on as historical for whatever reason.  A week that reminds us of the divisiveness existing in the world, not just in the USA and other free nations like Britain.  But is it possible that what we have seen in these great nations is democracy’s version of what “Arab Spring” was about in Egypt and the middle East? Is this a time when we need reflect on our soulful values, our “purpose under heaven” and live those values more openly and fully.  Today is a day when we reflect on the lives lost in war.  May war and violence not be the answer to the diverse values that seem to exist.  May we find the commonality in those values and build on them for world peace.

“To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven.”

On Wednesday I was grateful that it was the last day of the Usui/Holy Fire 11 Reiki Master course I had the privilege of facilitating.  The program experiences that connected us more fully with Divine energy guided us to a place of constructive thinking rather than negative resentful thinking. It was a blessing.

Today the music of Leonard Cohen shares his sadness with us and brings me to a place of realizing how we need to acknowledge our sadness and our disappointment.  For me it gives me, in gradually growing stages, the inner strength to use the feelings of loss of something I had hoped for.  I invite you to join me in resolving to identify our values for love, inclusiveness, and helping others.  I invite you in what ever way serves you best to courageously bring those values into your daily life at home and at work, in relationships and in parenting.

For me I find Reiki to be a valuable means of receiving guidance in difficult times. But Reiki is not the only way.  May you find peace and a constructive message to move forward with love and peaceful action.  May we all communicate our truth lovingly and honestly.  Peace be with us all.

Loving Today

img_0652It may only take a moment to shift your inner being from a place of tension and fear to one of calmness and love. In this state, you function much more effectively and with far less effort.  For best results do it first thing as you awaken.  Later in the day, simply take yourself to a private place away from the energy that has clouded your day.

Breathe deeply, bringing in the love energy that surrounds you even when you are not aware of its presence. Love energy is divine energy connected with the Source or Highest Power.  Let Reiki guide you.   Feel it circulate through your entire being.   Be with it. Experience the love that surrounds you and is within you. Share it with the world around you quietly and with intention.  You have made a difference.

The shift takes longer to read about than it does to actually allow to happen.  Yes it is about allowing.  There are many ways to guide this process for you.  Learning Reiki has been most helpful for me.  Have a loving day today.

Reiki: a means for self development

Reiki for wholeness and growth

Having taught several Reiki classes, I have noticed that people begin by promoting their own wholeness and growth. Their personal care and growth in wisdom and becoming more conscious is important.  Starting a Reiki practice may or may not be a later step.

Once a person learns Reiki, its uses are unlimited. That is why I chose to call my web site ‘Living Reiki’. You see it can become a part of your living day-to-day, helping you feel calm, grounded, more connected to your sense of higher power, more safe and ready to face life’s challenges.  It helps raise your own vibrational level which then helps raise the vibrational level of the planet.

I love teaching Reiki. I thoroughly enjoy seeing people feel the energy come through them. The more they practice, the more open they become to the energy and its benefits.  Given the benefits, why not click on this link to read a more detailed description of Reiki classes and a Reiki session. Read it through and email me at livingreiki@rogers.com with your questions or comments.  And if you would like to schedule a session with me or to register for a course, just let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

More about the Reiki I offer:

Initially I learned Reiki 1, 11 and Reiki Master Teacher here in Owen Sound.  I found the more I used it, the more I grew to love what it offered me, my clients and the students I taught.  At that point I taught only Reiki 1 and 11.  I wanted to take my learning to a deeper level and wanted to be sure I knew what I was teaching. An internet search led me to William Lee Rand and reiki.org.  What a great resource this was.

William is the founder of reiki.org, an international organization that includes a group of Reiki teachers who have studied Reiki more intensively for at least 3 years. This is the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT).

I decided to redo the Reiki Master course with William in Michigan.  There were ten of us who met with him for the three day course.  The course served me in many ways and in particular it offered me what I aimed for in bringing integrity and credibility to clients and students.

The following year I attended the Holy Fire Karuna Reiki Master course in Sedona with Laurelle Shanti Gaia and Michael Baird who are both ICRT licenced teachers.  These people and the Holy Fire energy were even more inspiring.  I realized that I wanted to be a member of the ICRT group and this past spring I retook Holy Fire Usui Reiki 1 and 11 in Buffalo with Carolyn Musial, who is another ICRT licenced Reiki teacher.  Having taken all levels with ICRT teachers, I am now a Professional Holy Fire Usui and Karuna Reiki Master with ICRT and I am happy to offer what I have learned and experienced to students and clients here in Owen Sound.  In October I will be attending a  Reiki Drumming course in Sedona with Michael Baird again.  Who knows where that will take me.

Besides teaching Holy Fire Usui Reiki 1 and 11 in Sept/Oct, I am also teaching a Holy Fire Usui Reiki Master course Nov 7-8-9.  If you have taken Reiki 1 and 11 from a qualified teacher in person (not online), even if it was not a Holy Fire Reiki, and if you have been using Reiki 11 for at least 6 months on self and others, you are qualified to take the Holy Fire Usui Reiki master course.  If this interest you, please let me know.

Enjoy September.  It is a beautiful month.

Benefits of Using Symbols in Reiki

imageIt is not uncommon for Reiki novices to resist learning and/or using symbols in Reiki.  I remember feeling that way at first. Perhaps they feel awkward using symbols that come from a different colour.  Or perhaps they feel it should not be necessary when it is the intention and the Reiki energy itself that is most important.  It is in working with the symbols that I realize how they focus and intensify specific energy.  Notice the symbol of the heart in the photo taken by a retreat participant last year.  The symbol has a lot of significance for her.

Having had an upbringing in a Church and school, symbols were part of religious ceremonies.  Perhaps that affected my view.  I spent some time contemplating how we use symbols in several other ways in our western culture.   Weddings, for example, bring a variety of symbols into ceremonies and celebrations purposefully to focus and intensify the energy of the experience.  In Western culture, we have wedding dress, rings, bouquets, table centres, toasts, dance, and more.  The love of the couple is what is most important but there is something more powerful when meaningful symbols are added even in a simple way.

There are three symbols learned in the second level of Reiki.  When I use the power symbol, I feel the energy is stronger.  It feels like I am channeling such qualities as empowerment, inner strength, self confidence, and such through to the client.  Besides the energetic connection to CKR energy of the power symbol, there is also something happens in my mind/body connection that triggers a response as I picture and draw and say (even to myself) the name of the symbol.  When I use the symbol on my chakras or to clear the energy in a room I also sense it’s effects and the power of intention is strengthened.

Similarly, when I use the mental emotional symbol, I image and sense a cleansing of my mental emotional field.  My intension is far more focused whether I am using the symbol for me or for a client.

I will write more about the importance of using the symbols in Reiki in the next post.  As many of you know, the symbols are the focus in Reiki 2 classes.  I will be teaching Reiki 2 next Friday April 22nd in my home near Owen Sound.  I still have space for two more participants if you have already taken Reiki 1 and are interested.

Share with friends as you wish.

Namaste,  Marie

Holy Fire Usui Reiki … a bit about it

You may have noticed the new term now connected with what I offer in Reiki sessions and classes. Is Holy Fire a new term for you? It was new to me too. Let me tell you a bit about how I came to appreciate Holy Fire Usui Reiki.

curly petalsFirst is the term Usui Reiki. Usui Reiki is the type of Reiki that has come to us initially through Dr Usui from Japan. Those of you who have the Manual I use when I teach Reiki will be familiar with the early history of Reiki. Reiki energy has actually existed long before that but Dr Usui came upon it. I have always practiced Usui Reiki but there are other types as well. When I first learned Reiki, the kind of Reiki I learned was Tibetan Usui Reiki. This name came from William Lee Rand who has spent many years studying metaphysics. He became aware that specific Tibetan Symbols, when added to the attunement process, strengthened the effect of the attunements.

How Holy Fire came to be

It was in January 2014 that William channelled the new energy he calls Holy Fire Reiki. Through meditation and work with his spiritual advisor, he learned how to adapt this new evolution of Reiki energy.  It was to be called Holy Fire. Many Reiki Masters still use the Tibetan Usui Reiki in their classes. It is still valid, effective and a good form of Reiki.

I came upon Holy Fire Reiki almost by accident. In the January following the Reiki Master Course I took with William Lee Rand, I learned of this new development. I was intrigued but not enough to run out and retake the program. However I had decided to take the Karuna Reiki Master program in Sedona in the fall of 2014. Laurell and Michael were teaching it and they had incorporated Holy Fire into The Karuna Master Program. They are Licenced Reiki Master Teachers through William Lee Rand and his group of advanced teachers.  Once initiated with Holy Fire, it applies to all levels of Reiki so it seemed like exactly the right thing to do.

I am so glad that I went to Sedona for that program. I was greatly inspired by both Holy Fire and Karuna Reiki. I feel Holy Fire has made a difference in my life. There are some issues that I had had difficulty resolving. Looking back, I realize I was getting too involved from the personality part of me. Asking for guidance brought in Holy Fire Reiki and my ability to let it be.

The Benefits of Holy Fire

The following is quoted from William’s description of Holy Fire Reiki on the reiki.org website.

“Holy Fire energy is noticeably more refined and comes from a higher level of consciousness. Some of the qualities students have experienced include:

  • Works continuously even when not thinking about it and spontaneously heals issues as they come up.
  • Always respects free will.
  • Heals deeply and quickly without distress.
  • Heals relationships and interactions with others.
releases worry and replaces it with a sense of safety in a most pronounced way.
  • Spontaneously provides guidance that is palatable for every level of life experience.
  • Tends to develop all the personality traits that are healthy for a person to have such as love of self and others, kindness, patience, confidence, vitality, enthusiasm, optimism, trust, joy, peace and so forth.
  • One of the more wonderful effects is a feeling of being loved. This is a deep and refined feeling that is very nurturing.
  • Once received, it continues to develop itself to be more evolved and effective.
these qualities are present in 1 & 11 and become more pronounced in the ART/Master and Karuna classes.”

Reiki Classes

Since I have taken the Holy Fire Karuna Master program, I now teach all levels of Reiki using Holy Fire. I am teaching a Holy Fire Usui ART/Master May 2-3-4 of this year. You must have the first and second levels of Reiki to take the course.  You do not have to have taken the Holy Fire level 1 and 11 to qualify for the Holy Fire Usui Master. If this interests you, please contact me and I will be glad to discuss it further with you.  marieknapp@rogers.com  I ask that you have taken the second level at least 6 months prior and have been using it.

I will also be teaching Reiki 1 on April 1 and 2, and level 11 April 22 and 23.  I will be using Holy Fire. If I have taught you the Tibetan Usui Reiki 1 and 2 before and you would like to experience the Holy Fire effects, contact me. As a former student of mine,  I am happy to offer it to you for a reduced price.
You may wish to learn more about Holy Fire Reiki and the classes I teach. Browse my web site and also go to www.reiki.org. There are more articles on the subject there.

I am looking forward to hearing from any of you who are interested in learning more.

Why Learn Reiki?

marieWhy learn Reiki if you are not interested in a Reiki practice?  Actually I find that several of my students never intended to actually set up a Reiki practice.  They may offer it to their families and friends but a Reiki Practice is entirely a different focus.

Besides being able to offer it to those you care about in your personal circles, there is also your own self care to consider.  Think about Reiki as an opportunity to find inner peace, to feel more balanced and grounded, to be better able to handle conflicts and puzzling challenges.

Since Reiki energy has no limits, the many uses of Reiki also have no limits.  Below are a few examples of ways you may find Reiki useful for yourself. In the classes for Reiki we teach the hand positions for a self treatment.  While this is useful, it is important to realize that this is only a small part of using Reiki for your own general well being of body, mind, emotions and spirit.

  1. Think of Reiki as a means to connect with the highest creative powers of the universe.  Perhaps you already do that through prayer.  Wonderful.  Reiki will simply enhance that practice.
  2. You may wish to refer to this greatest creative or higher power as God or Universal Energy or whatever is aligned with your personal spiritual philosophy.  It doesn’t matter.  What matters is that it is a source of pure love and strength that is available to you at all times.
  3. Knowing this, it means that when you want to “let go” of an issue, you have a place to send it to for action from a higher source.  I continue to see how this has been very helpful for people receiving Reiki.  Realizing that thinking through a problem does not bring a solution, we can easily feel stuck.  If we don’t think, what do we do?  By handing it off, we are better able to release it from our ineffective patterns of problem solving.  The answer is more apt to pop into our head or show itself in front of us. Try it.
  4. Similarly, we can remind ourselves to ask for guidance.  I have been in situations personally where I was at a loss as to what to say or do.  Asking for guidance is like letting it go because you quit trying to figure it out on your own.  The response is always what is best for all concerned.
  5. When you first awaken, you could begin the day with a simple acknowledgement of that connection, asking for guidance in whatever your day brings.  It helps you to accept life as it is. It helps you quit trying to control everything.
  6. Research is showing more and more positive effects from meditation.  Using Reiki on ourselves or on situations is a meditation.  Whatever kind of Reiki you have studied, use the symbols and process to be still.  Reiki can help you release the mind chatter.  It can be relaxing and help you find the wisdom that is who you are.  It can help you be you.

While this is a mere start of the possibilities of Reiki as a daily life practice or philosophy, I am very interested in reading some of your experiences.  What is your experience with any of the above?  What else do you find useful?  Let’s share our Reiki wisdom.

I have scheduled Holy Fire Usui Reiki 1 and 2 and Master classes (priced in Canadian dollars) in April and May. For more information please check my web site at http://marieknapp.com
