Reiki: Ripples to Waves

When we take a step to help make the world a better place, we make ripples. The ripples extend from you to those you touch personally and continue to extend outward from those people to others.  Suppose we were to take a bigger step, be a bit more vulnerable, send out more and bigger ripples, can’t you see that soon the ripples have built on each other and become a wave?

Join me in looking at this further. Reiki energy responds to your requests with what is for the highest good of all concerned. Reiki energy comes from the highest source, from the creator, from the highest good. It does no harm.  You know that a Reiki session takes you to a place of deep relaxation that allows your body mind and spirit to heal at just the right pace. It feeds our soul and touches our heart.

As the energy moves through you, Reiki helps you release blocks. Blocks are places where you hold energy for a variety of reasons. Many say that it is blocks in the emotional field that lead to physical symptoms. This makes sense knowing that stress can affect your life in many ways including physical illness.  Blocks can also hold you back in your growth path.

Yes, you can also bring Reiki into your life to help you move forward in your personal growth and in your life goals. If you do what you have always done, you will get what you always got. But taking that big leap is needed to move you forward, to transform your thoughts and behaviours. It requires courage, inner strength, patience and perseverance. It isn’t a smooth ride. It’s like taking the road less travelled and having to work your way through wild raspberries and some poison ivy. You reach a place of beauty and awe but the path has its challenges. Reiki can also give you what you need to handle the challenges.

If you have already taken Reiki level 1 or more, you can use reiki daily, ask for guidance and send Reiki energy to your intentions.  Although this is not difficult, sometimes it is easier with someone along side reminding you and encouraging you.

The workshop I am designing is almost ready to post so keep watching.  The input I have received from some of my clients and Reiki friends has been very useful in helping me create a package that will serve you well.

A Reiki Healing Experience

If Reiki has been in your life, recently or in the past, you have an opportunity to have some input into a half day workshop I am developing.

It will be offered in Owen Sound on a Tuesday afternoon in March from 1:00 to 4:00pm.  Are you interested?

Let me tell you what I am thinking.  I would like to offer you a Usui/Holy Fire 11 group healing experience for sure. I would like to prepare for this with a Guided meditation that includes chakra clearing.   But before these occurs, I would like some discussion about Reiki and it evolution.  Perhaps you have some questions you would like answered.  Give me some input please.

After the healing of experience, we could work on identifying intentions that really matter to you and bringing Reiki to them.  Would you like some discussion about how to make Reiki a living experience for you.

Now of course time is limited but I will prepare a handout that will help you to remember and practice what you have learned.

I see this workshop experience especially helpful to people who have taken at least the first level of Reiki but actually all levels of Reiki.  However if you have received Reiki sessions and have read my web site info, and would like to take it, please email me and   we can discuss.

Reiki: Why I like it

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an energy modality.  The following is a definition taken from the International Reiki site at of which I am a member.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.”

What I find most meaningful in Reiki

For me, it is the spiritual nature of Reiki that inspires me most.  It is a spirituality that is not connected to any religion but could be connected to all of them.  It is also a spirituality that is not dependent on any preconceived concept of what God is or isn’t.

So do you have to believe in God?

No.  It is optional.  I have crossed paths with more and more people who are confused about their beliefs.  Their perspective is agnostic, even though they don’t know for sure what that means.  Being agnostic is really a noncommittal belief to a concept of God. Maybe God is and maybe God isn’t.  Maybe universal energy is the same as God … or maybe not. Maybe Reiki energy is the same as Christ energy or Allah energy … or maybe not.

And so Reiki offers us the opportunity to unite in a way that can have meaning to all.  Now I know that William Lee Rand, of may not see Reiki in this way at all.  I don’t know.  I am speaking from my personal life experience.  I hope to attend one of his classes sometime this year, though.  I know I will write another blog about that experience.

What is a Reiki treatment like?

From here, you might wonder what is so useful about Reiki energy.  When I am offering a Reiki treatment to someone, I have begun first with some talk time in order to know better what the person is facing along life’s path.  Together we come up with an intention to incorporate into the Reiki experience.  The intention is usually something that is related to a healthy perspective or being centred or calm or focussed or something of that nature.

Before we begin Reiki itself, I like to help the person relax and I use a guided imagery that is customized to the situation we have been discussing and the intention we have formed.

Once I begin the Reiki itself, I generally can feel the energy come through me.  This is both inspiring and highly meaningful for me.  I don’t see energy fields but as my experience with Reiki increases, I am learning to trust my intuitive senses more.  That frees me up to allow Reiki to do what needs to be done.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

The relaxation that occurs is visible and palpable.  That in itself is a benefit.  This means that Reiki helps relieve stress in the physical body.  That relaxed state promotes healing.

I see other positive effects from the relaxation.  It seems to help people leave the circular thought patterns that go along with challenges.  It clears out the garbage chatter and they are able to view a situation from a different perspective.  My counselling practice is small.  I am still looking for the opportunity to use Reiki as a means of helping the person remove blocks and change thought patterns as part of a cognitive behavioural therapy process.  I have to wait for the right situation to come my way.  I have a lot of confidence that it will be very helpful.  I have used it with other forms of counselling and it fits well.

I am also looking forward to being able to use it in some way to help with the Hospice Palliative Care Program that is starting up in my community.  Working with energy in any modality can be helpful for the person themselves but also for the family and friends who are stressed and grieving with the process.

I am looking forward to teaching more Reiki later this year.  I hope to hear from people who are interested so that I can begin a list of people to contact.  Meanwhile, please feel free to ask me any questions related to Reiki.  I will do my best.

How mindful breathing helps stress management

The countdown is on and the big celebrations are only days away.  I would like to share with you a Youtube video by Richard Moss.  He reminds us of how our mindful breathing, in bringing us to the present moment, can help us relieve our stress and move to a pleasant way of being.  He points our the way our family can push our buttons as the tension of busyness increases.  Have a look at this.  It is good!
